Breaking 911: PRESIDENT TRUMP: "I saw that…Senator Murphy met with the Iranians; is that a fact? I just saw that on the way over. Is there anything that I should know? Because that sounds like to me a violation of the Logan Act."
Any citizen of the United States, wherever he may be, who, without the authority of the United States, directly or indirectly commences or carries on any correspondence or intercourse with any foreign government or any officer or agent thereof, with intent to influence the measures or conduct of any foreign government or of any officer or agent thereof, in relation to any disputes or controversies with the United States, or to defeat the measures of the United States, shall be fined under this title or
imprisoned not more than three years, or both.
This section shall not abridge the right of a citizen to apply, himself or his agent, to any foreign government or the agents thereof for redress of any injury which he may have sustained from such government or any of its agents or subjects. [1b]
Tom Fitton: That Yates/Mueller/FBI/Obama admin would suggest that Logan Act would apply to presidential transition shows the fundamental corruption of the Flynn prosecution. @RealDonaldTrump should pardon him. Or will the DOJ now also prosecute Kerry/Murphy?
@RealDonaldTrump: Kerry & Murphy illegally violated the Logan Act. This is why Iran is not making a deal. Must be dealt with strongly!
Chris Murphy: 1/ Attached is my usual account of my latest trip abroad, this one to Ukraine and Munich. I met w the Iranian Foreign Minister in Munich. It’s dangerous not to talk to adversaries, esp. amidst a cycle of escalation. Quick thread on what I told Zarif.
Here, Chris Murphy writes this piece on February 18, 2020, titled, “Behind the Scenes of My Trip to Ukraine and Munich." It starts with, “I just got back from a return trip to visit President Zelensky in Ukraine and a stop at the important Munich Security Conference in Germany.”
Make sure to find the link “Behind the Scenes” at the bottom of the description box to read it in its entirety. However, while I was reading it, I became furious. How smug and arrogant can a human be? In this write-up, Murphy proceeds to tell how he went to meet with Zelensky before and after the impeachment process. He mentions how he warned Zelensky about speaking with Rudy Giuliani and the Trump reelection campaign. How dare he? These people are utterly disgusting!
Well, Sean Davis responds with this: You all but accused Michael Flynn of treason for talking to world leaders on behalf of the incoming president. And now you want to pretend that secretly colluding with a terrorist regime overseas to undermine U.S. foreign policy is perfectly kosher?
“There must be JUSTICE,” President Donald J. Trump declared to launch a Wednesday morning Twitter storm. “This can never happen to a President, or our Country, again!”
He was responding to a tweet by Republican Rep Lee Zeldin.
Zeldin tweeted: “There are high expectations that the Justice Dept will very soon deliver transparency & ACCOUNTABILITY regarding DOJ/FBI officials who weaponized the awesome powers at their disposal in order to target the Trump campaign. Frustrated Americans demand justice! It’s LONG overdue!”
Trump also lashed out at former Secretary of State John Kerry and Connecticut Sen. Chris Murphy. Murphy met Iran foreign minister Mohammad Zarif last week at a security conference in Munich, Germany.
“Kerry & Murphy illegally violated the Logan Act. This is why Iran is not making a deal,” Trump tweeted. “Must be dealt with strongly!”
Trump went after Kerry in May of 2019, “calling for the former senator and top U.S. diplomat to be prosecuted for meeting with Iranian leaders and ‘telling them what to do.”
“John Kerry tells them not to call. That’s a violation of the Logan Act, and frankly he should be prosecuted on that, but my people don’t want to do anything,” Trump said at the time.
Kerry denied the allegation, insisting he said he did not try to “coach” Iran and saying he had not talked to leaders in the country since Trump withdrew from the Iran nuclear deal.
Trump also retweeted a post from Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton: “Speaking of the Logan Act….” Trump then retweeted several posts.
From Lee Zeldin: “Angry is a big-time understatement. Pelosi, Schiff, and Nadler should be stripped of their gavels and the Dems should be removed from power in Nov for their corrupt, rigged, rushed impeachment, hijacking Congress to appease a radical activist liberal base. Angry? Buckle up!”
“’When law ends, tyranny begins.’
“The Trump-Russia collusion hoax was rigged w/gross misconduct!
“The targeting of AG Barr isn’t because he is missing the mark. It’s because he is laser-focused on its center mass.”
“The more drained out the swamp gets, the more the swamp creatures act out in protest.”
From Rep. Mark Meadows:
“A brazen attempt at gaslighting from the media here.
“We have a long-documented trail and an IG report showing high-level DOJ/FBI elements were used illicitly to target Trump. Point blank.
“And it’s TRUMP who’s trying to ‘rewrite history’ ??”
“The FBI lied to the FISA Court 17 times, using knowingly false info in FISA applications, concealed exonerating evidence from judges, and even altered documents.
“Trump doesn’t need to rewrite history. It’s all right there—for any objective person to see.#GiveMeABreak”
