This report goes covers the written statements by Mr. Watkins to the House Panel. Here goes...
The article tells about the closed-door deposition. This deposition was between Watkins, Representative Bennie Thompson, and Mike Rogers. Thompson is the chairman of the Homeland Security Committee. Mike Rogers is Ranking Republican. The questions were whether the website 8-chan amplifies extremist views or radicalizes users.
Watkins gave a lot of helpful information to the Committee. This information included the structure, operation, and policies of 8-chan. Both Representative Thompson and Ranking Republican Rogers agree Watkins was cooperative and supportive.
Watkins confirmed through his lawyer. He will bring 8chan back when he develops more tools to counter illegal content. His intention is to have content to abide by US law.
Watkins also plans to have staff ready to restrict parts of the website during a state of emergency.
Critics are pressing tech companies to shun 8chan. Critics also claim 8chan is a hotbed of white extremist content.
The shooting deaths of 22 people at the El Paso Walmart was the third act of violence linked to 8chan for 2019. Allegedly, the El Paso gunman posted a four-page statement on 8chan before the attack. Two sets of shooters who attacked the two mosques and a synagogue also allegedly used the site.
I have heard the El Paso shooter actually posted his manifesto on Instagram. Well, since that narrative didn't work for the powers-at-be, I guess they chose to pen it on 8chan instead.
Watkins lawyer, Benjamin Barr said 8chan never tolerated illegal speech. He also said 8chan has a consistent track record of working with law enforcement when needed. Benjamin Barr said there are no platforms able to prevent all hateful or illegal speech. Plus, 8chan has always been responsible for law enforcement when needed. Barr said the company removed some posts after the shootings in Texas, California, and New Zealand.
Watkins did say his company would not remove constitutionally protected speech. Watkins prefers to promote counter-speech. He contends this is the view of the American justice system.

But there are many who resent this board.
They resent the intel the Q boards have shared and especially the GREAT AWAKENING. Here, Allison Matyus writes a scathing article in digitaltrends.com on October 9th. In her article, she describes the logo of the 8-chan as a snake. Allison remark the site name 8kun has a nefarious meaning. She wrote, "the “kun” synonym in Japanese means a young man and the “chan” synonym in Japanese means child."
In fact, Allison Matyus lists Tucows as the new hosting domain for the upcoming 8kun channel. She adds this Cloudflare statement: “The rationale is simple: they have proven themselves to be lawless and that lawlessness has caused many tragic deaths.” Yet, her article was less biased than this one from David Gilbert at vice.com. Gilberts’ article titles: 8chan Is Back from the Internet Grave — and It Has a New Name. Then he jabs 8chan right at the get-go. He writes about the new name and URL of the message board. But, he adds it is a hub for hate speech and extremist conspiracy theories. He accuses the former users as people who are hate-speech enthusiasts.
Gilbert confirms the site is operating with Tucows. Tucows told VICE News that it was unaware of the situation and was looking into it. Hmmm...seems like the pressure is already hitting Tucows to stop it if you ask me.
Gilbert cites the former founder of 8chan. Fred Brennan said the re-branding is a cynical attempt to make 8kun seem different than 8chan. Brennan also said 8kun success depends on the return of the QAnon crowd.
Now, hear Gilbert’s description of the Q board. First of all, Gilbert refers to QAnon as a wild conspiracy theory. He goes on to say, the conspiracy theory is the claim of the deep-state-liberal elites running a child sex trafficking ring. He mentions QAnon followers are also followers of President Trump and MAGA supporters.
Of course, he added the FBI has warned the movement could inspire domestic terrorists. So, when 8chan went offline in August, the QAnon community dissipated.
“I expect one of his first "drops" on 8kun will be to post a key so that “Q” can use other platforms in the future,” Brennan said. “That's why, if you ask me, it's so crucial that 8kun isn't allowed to go online— if it does, QAnon can spread. Without it, QAnon is dead.” These people are incredible!
Well, these people have no clue about the truth of what Qanon is about. Could they be part of the problem? Do they resent people who are finally waking up to the truths of what has been going on around us for far too long? I hope it is the latter. [3]
