This article in the Epoch Times outlines President Trump’s Executive order to protect America in the event of an EMP attack.
President Donald Trump issued an executive order on March 26 to harden America’s critical infrastructure against electromagnetic pulse (EMP) attacks.
Experts from the congressional EMP Commission have long called for such action, warning that an EMP could break America’s electrical grid and result in the eventual deaths of 90 percent of the U.S. population. Such an EMP could occur either from a natural solar storm, or, if an adversary detonated a nuclear bomb high above the United States.
Trump’s executive order takes a number of aggressive steps to safeguard the United States. In contrast to previous highly limited actions taken by the Department of Homeland Security, such as their paper last October with vague calls for further research, Trump’s executive order calls for specific action to be taken on set deadlines.
Previously, the government has hardened military equipment against an EMP. Trump’s order is a call to protect all U.S. citizens, by hardening civilian infrastructure. It defines critical infrastructure to include items that, if incapacitated, would have a “debilitating impact” on “national public health or safety.”
Potential items that may be flagged for hardening, which the EMP Commission has warned about, may include, among other items, extra high voltage transformers, and nuclear power plants.
Nuclear power plants present the risk that they could potentially stop operating properly following an EMP, and spew radiation everywhere, in a situation where Americans would be least equipped to deal with it.
The executive order also pays attention to developing an emergency response to an EMP in case one does occur, updating operational plans, and communicating that information.
“No executive order, no matter how well crafted, can succeed, unless the White House is willing to bulldoze through inevitable opposition from lobbyists, Obama-holdovers, and the Deep State. The EMP executive order is not the end of the long struggle to achieve EMP national preparedness, but perhaps the beginning of the end,” he said. [1] [Video 1]

Apparently, our president has intel that is exposing the potential for direct attacks on America. So, after signing the Executive Order for EMP National Preparedness, we learn this from ZeroHedge:
The U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) has awarded Avon Protection Systems Inc., Cadillac, Michigan, over $245 Million firm-fixed-price contract for production of M53A1 Chemical Biological Protective Mask systems, according to the DoD contract website.
The Army estimates M53A1 gas masks will start delivery in the second half of this financial year ending September. U.S. Army Contracting Command, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, will oversee the purchase order.
The M53A1 was developed to counter multiple threats encountered on the modern battlefield.
This mask is designed specifically to protect against traditional chemical and biological warfare agents, certain Toxic Materials and particulate matter including radioactive dust." According to the company, the M53A1 mask protects soldiers from chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear attacks. Specifically, the mask protects against mustard, sarin, soman, and VX nerve agents.
The order comes one month after the U.S. government introduced science-based guidelines for how first responders decontaminate large numbers of Americans after a chemical-weapons attack.
The guidelines, published last month, are the first in the U.S. to be based on extensive research and testing. What does the DOD know that we don’t know. These drills and practices tell me they know attacks like these are coming.
With lightning speed, the Army and U.S. government have been actively preparing for a biological incident on the homeland. With threats harder to anticipate today, the act of preparation suggests some fears that an attack of some sort could be imminent. [2]
