Last night my sister called to tell me the Israeli Peace plan had been leaked. So, of course, first thing this morning I started my sleuthing. Here's what I've found:

This report from worldjewishdaily.com releases a bombshell report:

According to Arab media reports, former Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman leaked details of President Donald Trump's peace plan to the Palestinian Authority.

The Times of Israel reports that Palestinian officials made the claim in the Arab newspaper Al-Hayat. They said the plan calls for a Palestinian state in Gaza with autonomy in the West Bank.

It also includes financial aid and incentives for Gaza in order to build a modern infrastructure including air and sea ports.

The Palestinians would be given control over Area A in the West Bank, where most of the Arab population lives, while Israel would retain control of Area C, where the majority of Jews live. The settlements would not be removed.. [1]

However, on January 2nd Al-Hayat reported...

Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas said he would fight the US plan. “This is a conspiracy, a conspiracy that they are going to be waging from afar,” Abbas said in an improvised speech on Monday night. “They say wait for the deal, what are we waiting for? Everything is on the table, nothing is left hidden, and what they offer is rejected, rejected, rejected, and we will fight to prevent it, because we will not sell out our sanctity.”

Abbas said the economic sanctions (cutting off support for the Palestinian Authority and United Nations Relief and Works Agency) imposed by the US administration on the Palestinian Authority to pressure its leadership to accept the Trump deal would not succeed in changing the Palestinian Authority position.

Meanwhile, US ambassador to Israel David Friedman has announced that the White House has decided to put its peace plan on hold until a new Israeli government is established following the April 9 elections. [3]

To understand the ongoing conflict between Israel and the Palestinians, Prager University has compiled an excellent video. This video makes it clear the Palestinians have no intentions of ever coming to a resolution with Israel. The message list multiple attempts by foreign dignitaries to offer peace solutions which were rejected by the Palestinians each time often leading to much blood-shed. Perhaps this is the best soloution...

Ryan Jones from "Israel Today" reports, the White House has immediately dismissed the Channel 13 report as "inaccurate."

Trump's special envoy for the Middle East, Jason Greenblatt, tweeted: "While I respect @BarakRavid, his report on Israel’s Ch. 13 is not accurate. Speculation about the content of the plan is not helpful. Very few people on the planet know what is in it."

So, it was just another case of fake news? Could be. Israel suffers from it just as much as America.

Or, perhaps it was the Trump Administration sending up a test balloon to see which provisions would be strongly rejected, and which would find some degree of acceptance among the parties involved. It's not uncommon for the Americans to do such a thing.

Either way, one aspect of the story that's being largely ignored, indeed that's been ignored for over two decades now, is the Palestinian Authority's rejection of any proposal that doesn't meet 100 percent of its demands, and then some.

Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas already months ago rejected Trump's "Deal of the Century" before any details were even known because he knew the Americans wouldn't offer him all he and the Palestinians demanded. It's the same reason he's been refusing to rejoin negotiations with Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu since the second term of Trump's predecessor, Barack Obama.

It's Abbas' rejectionist approach that suggests Trump was sending up a test balloon, and that Ravid and Channel 13 did not, in fact, report inaccurately. Trump knows he's got to give the Palestinians something really good to get them back to the table, so perhaps he was trying to see just how much the Israelis would go for.

The problem with that approach, if that's what happened here, is that Trump, like all his predecessors going back to Jimmy Carter, has failed to understand just how intransigent the Palestinian leadership has become.

Former Israel Prime Minister Ehud Barak already tried to offer the Palestinians all that Trump is now allegedly offering, and more, only to have Yasser Arafat throw it back in his face. Abbas Abe.as, who was mentored by Arafat, isn't now going to accept a Palestinian state on anything less than the pre-1967 armistice lines, or a truncated East Jerusalem. He's staked his entire legacy on rejecting such compromises. [3]

If President Trump knows the Palestinian Authorities will reject a Peace Plan that has already been rejected on numerous occasions, why this leak? The timing of this erroneous leak brings me back to April 4, 2018 when Q wrote this:

Remember the outrageous Omnibus Spending Bill that the Democrats were so proud of. The minority Democrats celebrated this Bill as a victory. The Minority Blog cites this:

Sen. Schumer also touted the inclusion of the Gateway bridge project in the omnibus. A wall was funded as well, just not for our southern border. One for Jordan was funded. Think about this. Chuck Schumer a dual Israeli citizen makes sure a wall is funded for Jordan, but NOT for America.

Ostensibly, President Trump was forced into signing the monstrous bill because of national security and funding the military. The omnibus spending bill contains language that explicitly bars funding for a southern border wall. ...but, get this: However, the bill did give congressional members a nice, fat raise. [4] After putting the leak along with the current situation of the government shutdown; I can't help but believe this leak is interconnected.
